CAESAR SPENCER ISN'T THAT WHAT JIMI SAID (FEAT. JO WEDIN & JEAN FELZINE)

Caesar Spencer has returned with an incredible tribute to Jimi Hendrix in the form of ‘Isn’t That What Jimi Said’. “It refers to the apocryphal idea that [Hendrix] smashed up his guitars out of sheer frustration because they weren’t able to sufficiently express the sounds he had in his mind,” explains Spencer. “It’s the idea that the emotions you feel are sometimes so strong that you have no ability to express them in a reasonable way. You’re limited by the tools you’re given. That can be painful to experience but it’s also something that can drive great art.” Musically, it’s a pastoral pop tune that features Jo Wedin and Jean Felzine. Hammond organs and sunny acoustic guitars are used to craft the nostalgic textures of the track, which oozes with effortless melody. His eleven-track album, Get Out Into Yourself, will be released soon. -Dan Peeke.
